MLS

Finally the time has come! After a really long and hard pre-saison the competition starts! Just in time before the season kicks off the Union and the MLS came to an agreement and now nothing is in the way of a hopefully successful start to the new Season!

For me personally the pre-season could not have gone any better. I did not miss one training and I managed to gain a spot in the starting lineup for the opening game at Houston.

I hope I can adjust as quickly as possible to the style of soccer in the MLS and also to the stresses and strains of travelling before every away game. In the MLS there are not only huge distances between the clubs but we also have to travel to different time and climate zones. This is definitely different for me to the short Bus or Train journeys in Europe to the away games and I hope I can adapt to it well.

We travelled on day earlier as usual to our opening game at Houston to escape the bad weather in Columbus. This gives as the change to have one more training outside on normal grass. After we arrived back to Columbus from our pre-saison camp in Florida we could only train indoors on artificial grass due to the bad weather conditions.

It is also nice to see that the interest in to the MLS is growing rapidly.

Eurosport will broadcast the 2015 MLS Season in Europe and in England games will be on Sky Sports!

I am particularly looking forward to compete again against Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, but also to all the other Superstars in the MLS like David Villa, Kaka, etc.

I am sure this season will be fascinating for me not only from a sports-perspective but also because I will get do know the USA a lot better.

Let the games begin! And may the odds be ever in OUR favor!
